AWATE is a visionary Eritrean rapper, raised in Camden, London – laced with the iconic production of Turkish Dcypha.

AWATE’s debut album, ‘Happiness’ was hailed as a “British rap masterpiece”, by Trench Magazine and was supported by Noisey, The Line of Best Fit, Complex, GUAP Mag, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

His 2016 debut EP, ‘Shine Ancient’ was called ‘defiant’ and ’triumphant’ by Complex, with support from Noisey, Spotify, Huck Magazine, BBC 6 Music, KISS, AFROPUNK, Okay Africa and SB.TV.

AWATE is also a multimedia artist and screenwriter with past commissions or residencies with: The Roundhouse, The British Library Sound Archive, Tate Archives, PRS Foundation, British Council, Counterpoints Arts.
