Summer By The River: Launch Night

Ditch the hustle and bustle of the capital for our Summer by the River, where bliss is just a deep breath away. Starting on 1 June 2023 lose yourself in new experiences, reconnect with old friends and feed your curiosity or your appetite.

Join us for the launch night party on Thursday 1 June for spectacular night of music and dance at The Scoop, with an exclusive performances from Autin Dance, high octane brass band Con Latón and euphoric electronic pop trio LOWES.

PARADE: The Giant Wheel

Parade is a moving performance inspired by the beauty, power and impact of people from different walks of life coming together, featuring a 12-foot-tall Giant Wheel powered by five street artists, accompanied by music and community cast of local groups and individual performers.

In this short preview performance, exclusive to Summer By The River, creators Autin Dance will give you a thrilling glimpse of this itinerant act that celebrates the tension and fracture between our individual identities and our shared collective humanity.

Autin Dance Theatre will use their unique blend of contemporary storytelling, striking physicality and innovative large designs to transport audiences and communities along a carefully choreographed procession into the Scoop to celebrate the launch of Summer By The River.

Con Latón

Con Latón are a tight-knit group of horns & rhythm doing exactly what the greats used to do: perform the songs of the day in their distinct artistic style, laced with improvisation and musicianship. Their setlist weaves the American songbook with modern soul, R&B, and pop, all threaded through a contemporary jazz brass needle.

LOWES

Electronic Pop Trio, LOWES, consists of vocalist Evie and producer/multi-instrumentalists Luke and Jamie. The bands music is euphoric and emotional, imbued with an authenticity that makes it both powerful and vulnerable.

2023 sees the band following up the critically acclaimed ‘Late Nights Visions EP’, ‘Adidas & Pearls’ (with Vintage Culture & Solardo) and ‘Lucid Love’ with Cristoph. The latter was a BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record with Clara Amfo, the band’s seventh Hottest Record to date adding to a whole host of previous support at radio. The continuous support from BBC Radio 1 in particular saw LOWES singer Evie named the Best Dance Vocalist at 2021’s Radio 1 Dance Awards. The past couple of years have been characterised by a string of high profile collaborative singles with the likes of CamelPhat, High Contrast, Franky Wah, KC Lights, Sigma, Alan Fitzpatrick, The Prototypes, Vintage Culture and Solardo.
