Summer By The River: BBC Introducing in London

BBC Introducing in London presenter Jess Iszatt is back at The Scoop to present another sizzling line up of the best emerging talent from the capital.

Catch three up-and-coming artists in a line up specially curated for Summer By The River by Jess and the BBC Introducing in London team.

Tom Rasmussen

Tom Rasmussen’s debut album Body Building fuses dark dance music with an aesthetic and live performance that takes influence from their past life in drag. Born and raised in Lancashire, Tom moved to London where they fell into the world of drag, performing everywhere from the Royal Opera House to Glastonbury.

Although their drag alter ego Crystal was distinct for singing live, it wasn’t until Rasmussen started writing their own music that their performance persona began to change, revealing more of themselves. Thus came their debut album Body Building, an album that pierces the skin with its falsetto vocals and moments of queer euphoria punctuated by acoustic instrumentation. Having already toured with Rina Sawayama and Self Esteem, Tom Rasmussen has already made waves with audiences across the UK. Especially with their single Dysphoria, the inimitably catchy, powerful yet poignant ode to their experience with their body.

Sianybby

Sianybby is a 22 year old singer-songwriter from North London. With a captivating blend of pop, hip hop, R&B, and drum and bass, she's making waves in the music scene. With a steady stream of upcoming summer releases, starting with her long awaited single, 'Sianybarbie', it’s an exciting time to catch her.

The combination of her vocals and lyrics paired with heavy beats (from her trusted producer B£NJY) makes her music a unique listen. Having only started releasing music in late February Sianybby is already cultivating an audience and a real buzz. Her first every mini project 'I Lost My Baby Pink CD Player' has put her on the map - with much more to come.

July Jones

July Jones is an artist with an instantly distinctive look and a unique point of view. Her edgy electro-pop songs combine razor-sharp hooks with forward-thinking production choices and filter-free lyrics about relationships, queerness and mental health. "I'm queer and my partner is transgender, so for me it's very important to speak about being LGBTQ," she says.
