Summer By The River: Hootananny Presents

Hootananny Brixton is an iconic grass roots music venue based out of Brixton.

For years they have provided stage to thousands of artists both nationally and internationally across a range of genres, cementing themselves as a musical institution in the heart of South London.

This summer they will be bringing their award winning programming to the Scoop, so expect a hell of a party - Hoots style - featuring DJs Cue and Fizzy Gillespie and a blistering set from The Big Smoke Family.

The Big Smoke Family are purveyors of voodoo funk - a unique mix of punchy horns, heavy street beats, chants and samples.

Following in the footsteps of modern New Orleans funk bands such as Galactic and Trombone Shorty, and drawing inspiration from Mardi Gras Indians, James Brown and the Meters.

They are electrifying live performers with credits that include Dr. John, Maceo Parker and Ernest Ranglin and their renowned show sees them regularly sell out Hootananny, Ronnie Scott’s, London Jazz Festival and many more.
