Summer by the River: The Flies

190605 The Flies

Ahead of their production in June at the Bunker Theatre, Exchange Theatre present a preview of their epic revolutionary French tragedy, fused with a live rock band.

JP Sartre’s rebellious and highly political thriller re-imagines the Greek tragedy of the Orestia, exploring the complexities of human values in a period of political turbulence. As Orestes is hounded by Jupiter, God of Flies and Death, The Flies examines freedom, oppression and courage. Electra, Orestes and their troubled family will be joined on stage by the rock band ‘A Riot in Heaven’, transforming this tragedy into a modern, tense and thrilling rock opera.
